gamlalanFrom the three counties to one county

- In 1996, invited Olle Jonson (then President of Skaraborg Deaf county), then the county consultant Anders Lundberg, SDR's regional ombudsman Ragnar Veer and county Council Kent Johansson as a result of Skövde as to why it has been discussed for the formation of a region in western Sweden. Kent Johansson informed us that there are many reason for it and that is:

- Provincial division in Sweden has been unchanged for a long time. When the old borders in western Sweden was amended on 1 January 1998 and Västra Götaland County Administrative Board has been formed and several other government agencies organized on such police, the County Employment Board and tax.

- County merger, which meant that the three county governments were merged, has also prompted other changes at the regional level. On 1 January 1999 the county councils were merged to form the Västra Götaland region responsible for such health care. At trial, the Västra Götaland region taken over the regional development responsibility for communications, industrial and regional policies from the County Board .- The Regional Council directly elected by its 149 members is the region's highest decision-making agencies located in Vänersborg. Regional Executive Board prepares all matters to the Regional Council and Regional Council consists of 17.

- There is a close co-operation between the County Board, the Västra Götaland Region, municipalities and many other actors on the development of West Bengal.
Therefore, the Västra Götaland Region was formed.

- During the time when there were Skaraborg, Alvsborgs Deaf county, Bohus County Deaf Association and the Deaf Society of Gothenburg county committee which will later be merged down to the Deaf Västra Götaland county but first we want to talk about what happened to it.

- After meeting with County Council Kent Johansson, we decided to invite the chairmen of three county / club chairman meeting in Trollhättan. We discussed a long time if we are forming a new county or keep all three county. But in the end we agreed to form working committees - Deaf West County Committees (VDLU) that has come with proposals for new large county. Camilla Persson of Skövde, was elected chairman of VDLU.

- Two representatives from each county / club to sit on the committee and the proposal will be presented at the little deaf today in Gothenburg, Sweden (conference). It took time to work out the statute because everyone has different content in the statute. We finally agreed that it should form a new large county and there are many advantages to it. It becomes even stronger with more members and more influence with various important issues.

- On first meeting on 14 November 1998 in a local sign language centers in Gothenburg suggested Deaf West County Committees (VDLU) for 33 agents to form a county for Västra Götaland Region.
